Drinking Water While Pregnant

drink water pregnantIt is important to drink water while pregnant.  When you are pregnant, your loved ones shower you with love and care along with a long list of health tips and advice. All of this advice can be overwhelming at times, but it is important to ensure the health of you and your baby. One of the simplest pieces of advice you often hear is to hydrate your body. This is very important and valuable advice.

Being pregnant, you need more water than others. Women who are expecting a baby are recommended to consume 8 to 12 glasses of water a day. Staying hydrated is very important for: creating amniotic fluid, producing extra blood, building new tissues, carrying nutrients, improving digestion and flushing out unnecessary substances from the body.

Just as important as proper hydration is making sure that the water you consume is pure and completely safe. That is why mothers-to-be are advised to use a water purifier based on reverse osmosis (RO). This device effectively protects against potential diseases carried by contaminated water.

Advice

Here are some tips on how hydration can help you ease your pregnancy:

  • Helps reduce common pregnancy discomforts such as cramps, headaches and nausea.
  • Relieves you of morning nausea, heartburn, acidity and even fatigue.
  • Reduces the risk of urinary tract infections appearing and developing.
  • Helps the kidneys and liver to function better. Especially for pregnant women, drinking purified water helps with digestion and bowel movements and reduces constipation.
  • It helps maintain water levels in the body with frequent visits to the toilet.

To conclude it is important to drink water while pregnant.  You should always maintain the right balance of water in your body. Keep a water bottle on hand and sip from it at regular intervals.  Don’t drink a lot of water at once. For better water management, you can set frequent reminders on your phone. In addition to hydration, don’t forget to exercise and follow a healthy diet enriched with minerals and nutrients.
